Singapore’s ladies table tennis team has just beaten South Korea to secure a place in the finals.

Feng Tian Wei (SIN) beat Dang Ye Seo (KOR)
Kim Kyung Ah (KOR) beat Li Jia Wei (SIN)
Wang Yue Gu/Li Jia Wei (SIN)
beat Park Mi Young/Kim Kyung Ah (KOR)
Dang Ye Seo (KOR) beat is Wang Yue Gu (SIN)
Feng Tianwei (SIN)
beat Park Mi Young (KOR)

Singapore will thus win their first medal – either silver or bronze – in 48 years. Tan Howe Liang was the last (and sole) Singaporean win a medal – a silver for weightlifting.

Some of the SYOGOC team tried to watch the game at our board room but was foiled by a dodgy internet connection. We then scooted over to Orchard Hotel, but were worried that we might frighten away their unsuspecting guests. Thus we took over Muddy Murphy’s where we managed to convince their management that nobody would be against the idea of turning up the volume for the match.

Thanks everyone, for not minding our noise!

The final will take place this Sunday evening. I imagine most of Singapore will be tuning in. It’s going to be a tough fight though…
