Our paralympic heroes like swimmer Yip Pin Xiu and equestrian rider Laurentia Tan touched down safely at Changi Airport Terminal 3 yesterday evening after competing in the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games.

Family members, schoolmates, the media, fans and even Dr. Vivian Balakrishnan (Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports) all made the trip to welcome home their heroes and offer their congratulations.

Just for the record, 16-year old swimmer Yip Pin Xiu made history by winning Singapore’s first ever gold-medal in the 50m backstroke, as well as a silver medal in the 50m freestyle event. She also set 2 world records while qualifying – 57.92 for the 50m backstroke and 58.05 seconds for the 50m freestyle.

Another lady that did us proud was Laurentia Tan, who won two bronze medals in the Equestrian Individual Freestyle Test – Grade 1A event.

Failed to rush down to the airport last night? Fret not ’cause you can still catch them at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games Celebratory Event tomorrow (20th Sept) at Orchard Cineleisure, 3-5pm.

Do come back again for juicy interviews!
