aquatics (swimming)

For those of you who were in Singapore yesterday, you are probably aware of how the skies suddenly opened up and decided to hit us with the biggest rain storm in a long while.

Water, water everywhere

I think it's safe to say our clock is waterproof?

Most of us in Kay Siang (not too far away from waterworld Orchard Road) escaped somewhat unscathed, but for those who were working or shopping in the Orchard Road area (otherwise known as Singapore’s shopping belt), things might have gotten a little soggy (that’s putting it mildly) from the onslaught of what appeared to be “tea with milk”.

The Olympic Superstore

I don't think there were many people at our Olympic Superstore ...

But good to know that despite the superstorm, our Olympic Superstore is still open for business! Yes… even in the face of all the tea in the world! While many who were affected might be rather cross about Orchard Road becoming an overpriced storm drain, I’m sure there might be other people out there who have been keen on having the floodwaters stay a little longer.

does Lyo swim?

"Row, row, row your boat... right down Orchard Road!"

While those of us in Singapore were celebrating 99 days to go at *scape, some of our Young Ambassadors around the world were also doing their part to spread the word about the first ever Youth Olympics to be held in just over 3 months time.

Iryna Merleni, an Olympic Gold medallist for wrestling gets special mention today for getting the word out in the Ukraine to 98 others and photographing them (plus herself), creating this lovely mosaic in the process:

Irina Merlini and 98 others

We love you too, Ukraine! (Click on the image to view in full-size)

Some of you may remember her from this video where she did one-armed pushups and threw our beloved Youth Guru around like a ragdoll. Ouch.

And if that fabulous mosaic isn’t enough, there’s also this cute video she posted on facebook featuring young Ukrainian athletes, Iryna herself, and her cherubic (but strong!) son. Be sure to watch the video all the way to the end to catch him in action. I promise you it’s worth it. ๐Ÿ™‚

Special thanks also to YOG Ambassadors, Yelena Isinbayeva and Michael Phelps, who did special 99-second interviews for the occasion. Links to their videos: Yelena & Michael

So how did you celebrate 99 days to go? ๐Ÿ˜‰
